Methanol, also known as hydroxymethane, is an organic compound with the simplest structure as a saturated monohydric alcohol. Its chemical formula is CH3OH/CH4O, where CH3OH is a simple formula that can highlight the hydroxyl groups of methanol. The CAS number is 67-56-1, the molecular weight is 32.04, and the boiling point is 64.7 ℃. Due to its first discovery in dry distillation wood, it is also known as "xylin" or "lignin". The minimum dose of poisoning in the population is about 100mg/kg body weight, and oral intake of 0.3-1g/kg can lead to death. Used in the production of formaldehyde and pesticides, and as an extractant for organic compounds and a denaturant for alcohol.
